My husband thinks I'm crazy, knowing when Luke's birthday is and insisting on buying him a special rawhide on his special day. I also insist on telling Luke "Happy Birthday" and encouraging Kelsey to do the same. Luke loves hearing it - he pants and wags his tail, and nuzzles up close to be petted.
My step mom even called and left a voice mail on my cell phone for Luke today - she wanted to wish him a Happy Birthday as well. I put the cell phone on speaker phone and held it near Luke's ear - he got REALLY excited. My husband just shook his head and said "You two are insane."
I don't think we're crazy. Pets are just as important to a family as every other family member. We take them in to our homes when they're very young (Luke was only 5 weeks when I got him), we take care of them, we love them, and they love us in return. I'm not told I'm crazy when I wish my husband, my stepdaughter, or any other family member a Happy Birthday - so why should I be told I'm crazy when I wish Luke Bradley a Happy Birthday??
